Dr. Cordero-Ferrer was born and raised in Puerto Rico. She attended college in Puerto Rico for pre-med, where she also had a volleyball scholarship. In 1998, she moved to Guadalajara, Mexico for medical school.

In 2003, Dr. Cordero-Ferrer traveled to New York for an internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Sound Shore Medical Center with New York Medical College. She completed her program in 2007 and started working in a Community Health Center in the Bronx for the next three years. Dr. Cordero-Ferrer moved to Connecticut in 2010 where she practiced Internal Medicine until relocating to Florida in July 2017.

Dr. Cordero-Ferrer and her husband Carlos Rivera-Caban a Vascular Surgeon at Oak Hill Hospital have two daughters. She enjoys going to dancing classes with her girls, and they currently compete in ballroom dancing.
