Women Can Schedule a Routine Pap Smear at Florida Medical Clinic

Pap Smear

A pap smear is a routine test that is primarily used for cervical screening. Most women over the age of 21 are advised to schedule a pap test once every three years until they turn 65; women over the age of 30 may have the option of combining their pap tests with HPV screenings.

At Florida Medical Clinic, we encourage our patients to take a proactive role in their health. Because pap tests are regarded as the best option for the early detection of cervical cancer, we make it simple and convenient for our patients to work them into their busy lives. We do this by:

  • Providing pap smear services during patients’ routine annual exams whenever possible at our multiple easily accessible locations
  • Offering combined pap smear/STD tests
  • Accommodating short-notice appointment requests whenever possible

While most patients’ pap tests come back with perfectly normal results, we do offer a comprehensive range of follow-up tests and treatments in the event that a patient’s pap smear indicates the presence of abnormal cells. In many cases, an abnormal test result is caused by a minor issue that clears on its own, and we can rule out cancer through a follow-up pap smear or biopsy. Should abnormal cells be found during a pap smear, our highly experienced team is here to provide prompt and individualized care. At Florida Medical Clinic, all of our medical providers – even across different departments, such as oncology and surgery – can easily collaborate on a patient’s case, thanks to our clinically integrated network.
