Mark Arey, MD: After coming back to Central Florida in 2008 as an ophthalmologist and cataract surgeon, Dr. Mark Arey joined Florida Medical Clinic in 2015 and then in 2018 created the new FMC Eye Specialists division. He sees patients in both North Tampa and Land O’ Lakes.
Leonard Cortelli, MD: Dr. Leonard Cortelli also joined FMC in the summer of 2015. Dr. Cortelli is an experienced cataract surgeon and has been with Florida Eye Center since 1992. He is a graduate of Cornell University and the University of South Florida College of Medicine. Dr. Cortelli’s awards include membership in the AOA Medical Honor Society, USF Faculty/Staff Scholarship 1987/1988, and “Best Doctor” awards in 2003, 2004, 2007, and 2008. Dr. Cortelli provides general, comprehensive eye care and specializes in small incision cataract surgery using phacoemulsification.
Marianne Diego-Wright, MD: In 2011, the Department of Ophthalmology expanded into the Tampa area with the addition of Dr. Diego-Wright.
Allen Pusateri, MD: Dr. Allen Pusateri is a graduate of the University of Florida and the University of South Florida College of Medicine. Dr. Pusateri completed a specialized fellowship in Cataract, Cornea, and External Diseases at Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts. While providing routine eye care for glasses and contact lenses, Dr. Pusateri also treats a wide range of ophthalmic conditions including cataracts, macular degeneration, glaucoma, dry eye, and diabetes. He offers the most recent treatment innovations including laser-assisted cataract surgery with astigmatism correction and multifocal lens implantation.
Thomas Pusateri, MD: Dr. Thomas Pusateri graduated 1st in his medical school class of 1984 at USF in Tampa. He then completed a Pediatric Internship at Northwestern University in Chicago before returning to USF to finish his Ophthalmology training. Dr. Pusateri provides comprehensive eye care for all ages ranging from newborns to seniors. He has special interests in Pediatric Eye Care and Glaucoma Laser Treatment.
Christopher Spanich, MD: Dr. Christopher Spanich has fellowship training in diseases of the cornea and glaucoma. Dr. Spanich has been providing comprehensive eye care and cataract surgery at Florida Medical Clinic since the Eye Center’s launch in 1996.
Sejal Shah, MD: Dr. Sejal Shah is the newest member of the optical team, having joined in 2019. She serves as our in-house retinal specialist with clinical interests in General Medical Retina.
