Osteoporosis Treatment Options at Florida Medical Clinic

Osteoporosis Treatment | Orthopedic Surgery

Osteoporosis is a chronic condition that requires long-term treatment. While it’s not possible to reverse damage that has already been done, it is possible to slow down the degenerative process and even strengthen a patient’s existing bone mass. At Florida Medical Clinic, we help our patients live their strongest and most active lives by monitoring and managing their chronic health concerns, including the loss of bone density that often occurs with age.

One of the ways in which we are able to tailor each patient’s osteoporosis treatment to his or her specific needs is bone densitometry, a routine test that helps us determine the health of a patient’s bones. Bone densitometry is a simple, safe, and painless way to assess the mineral density in the bones of the hip or spine. The tests are quick and easy, taking only a few minutes each and producing detailed images of the patient’s bones.

If the results of a patient’s bone density test indicates that osteoporosis treatment may be necessary – or if a patient comes to Florida Medical Clinic with an existing osteoporosis diagnosis – our team can provide a comprehensive range of treatments, including:

  • Lifestyle recommendations, such as tailored exercise plans designed to help strengthen the bones and joints
  • Dietary counseling to help patients increase their calcium intake, in turn strengthening their bones
  • Medications to help slow the process of bone loss

Each patient’s progress is tracked through our innovative electronic records system. This means that any of the patient’s Florida Medical Clinic physicians can instantly review his or her osteoporosis treatment plan, and also review any other complications that might have arisen as a result of the condition. In this way, we’re able to streamline care between departments, resulting in simpler and more efficiently coordinated osteoporosis treatment for each patient.

Proudly serving New Tampa, Carrollwood, Zephyrhills, and Brandon, Florida.
