Neurology

We put your mind at ease.

At the Department of Neurology at Florida Medical Clinic, we understand how to effectively treat and prevent illnesses related to the brain and nervous system.

We provide an array of diagnostic services for our patients, including EEG and EMG testing. We specialize in the treatment and management of chronic conditions such as Alzheimerā€™s disease and Parkinson’s disease. We also perform injections of botulinum toxin for dystonia, migraine, and spasticity.

We pride ourselves on our commitment to high-quality neurological testing. Our Clinical Neurophysiology Lab is 1 out of 14 accredited labs in Florida to receive Laboratory Accreditation with Exemplary status from the American Association of Neuromuscular & Electrodiagnostic Medicine (AANEM).

Alzheimer's Test

To determine whether a person might have Alzheimerā€™s, weā€™ll conduct a comprehensive assessment. This assessment is inclusive of physical, mental and neurological exams as well as imaging tests to rule out any other potential causes.

Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) Tests

ANS tests measure how the systems controlled by the autonomic nerves respond to various stimuli. These tests are used to determine if the autonomic nervous system is functioning properly, or if nerve damage has occurred.

Brainstem Auditory Evoked Response (BAER) Tests

BAER tests are used to measure the brain wave activity that occurs in response to a series of clicks or certain tones. This tests help diagnose hearing loss and nervous system disorders, and is particularly useful in diagnosing young children who are not able to participate in a standard hearing test.

Cognitive Tests

These tests are used to measure cognitive abilities using various IQ tests. Cognitive tests can help identify mental functions such as memory, language and the ability to recognize objects.

Electroencephalography (EEG)

Our brains work by sending out small electrical impulses. EEGs monitor this activity and translate it into a visual image. This image gives us a wealth of information about whatā€™s happening in the brain.

Electromyography (EMG)

EMG testing is performed by our experienced neurologists to diagnose a variety of nerve and muscle disorders.

Nerve Conduction Velocity (NCV) Tests

Our neurologists conduct various NCV tests to measure how fast electrical impulses move through your nerves. This test is used to diagnose disorders such as carpal tunnel syndrome, peripheral neuropathy and spinal disc herniation.

Somatosensory Evoked Potential (SEP) Tests

SEP tests measure the electrical activity in the brain resulting from the stimulation of touch. This non-invasive test is used to help measure somatosensory system functioning.

Therapeutic Botox

Botox injections can be used to treat and prevent a number of neurological conditions, such as neck spasms and chronic migraines.

Visual Evoked Potential (VEP) Tests

A VEP is used to measure the responses caused by various visual stimuli, such as a pattern on a computer screen. This test is helpful for diagnosing patients who experience sudden changes in vision due to problems along the pathways of certain nerves.
