Hospital Medicine

The Department of Hospital Medicine is committed to providing the high-priority care during a patient’s stay in the hospital. Our hospitalists work exclusively in a hospital setting coordinating patient care 24 hours a day, seven days a week, for primary care physicians and specialists.

Because we spend our entire time in the hospital, we are available throughout the day for admissions and emergencies. We care for hospital patients in the same manner as your Primary Care physician, including ordering treatments and tests and consulting with specialty physicians when appropriate. This hands-on approach not only improves the quality of care, but also results in better use of hospital resources, greater patient satisfaction and reduced length of stay. Once you are discharged, care returns to your primary care physician or specialist.

Benefits of Hospital Medicine at Florida Medical Clinic:

  • Highest Quality of Care – Having a dedicated hospital physician with complete knowledge of the hospital system results in a higher level of care for patients.
  • Patient Satisfaction – Hospitalized patients no longer have to wait until regular office hours are over to see their care provider. Typically, your hospitalist will make multiple evaluations a day on recovery progress and overall health. Hospitalists can also be more accessible to patients and their family members.
  • One Medical Record – We will have access to your Florida Medical Clinic Electronic Health Record, which provides important information about medical history, current medications and more.
