Ultrasounds and Other Radiology Services at Florida Medical Clinic

Ultrasounds

Ultrasounds are fast, simple, and painless imaging studies that use sound waves to produce detailed images (sonograms) of the inside of the body. Specifically, these tests use high-frequency echoes to create images of a patient’s organs and soft tissue structures.

Because they do not involve the use of ionizing radiation, ultrasounds are most commonly used during pregnancy, although there are many other situations in which they are useful. For instance, ultrasound imaging can be used to diagnose heart conditions, blood clots, gallstones, endometriosis, and thyroid issues. Ultrasounds can also be used to guide the retrieval of tissue samples for laboratory testing.

At Florida Medical Clinic, our Department of Radiology offers comprehensive ultrasound services along with PET/CT scans, X-rays, MRIs, and other advanced forms of diagnostic imaging. Men and women who require ultrasounds or other forms of radiological testing can turn to us in complete confidence, knowing that:

  • Our technicians are certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
  • Our radiologists are board-certified by the American Board of Radiology
  • Our practice is accredited by the America College of Radiology (ACR)

Patients also benefit from our unique electronic medical record, in which imaging scans, test results, and other pertinent details are made instantly accessible to all of the providers throughout the Florida Medical Clinic network. This means that our Department of Radiology can easily share a patient’s prenatal ultrasounds with our Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Midwifery, or a patient’s vascular ultrasounds with our Department of Cardiology and Heart Care.
