About Paul Z. Gerczuk, MD

As a Cardiac Electrophysiologist, Dr. Paul Gerczuk specializes in the electrical system of the heart and abnormal heart rhythms. “The heart can develop both fast and slow rhythm issues,” he says, “and as an Electrophysiologist, I am specifically trained to treat them.”

“The most common arrhythmia in this country is atrial fibrillation,” says Dr. Gerczuk, “and the treatment for ‘afib’ is improving rapidly.” Dr. Gerczuk is specially trained in both the medical and procedural treatment of atrial fibrillation, or ‘afib’. “The technology that is now available to us during an afib ablation procedure has improved outcomes dramatically,” he says, “and seeing patients get their quality of life back is incredibly rewarding to me.”

Dr. Gerczuk is a Toronto native, is married with two children.  He and his family enjoy living in the Tampa Bay area.

"He saved my life"

My husband and I had moved here from the New England area and had no experience with physicians in the Tampa area. We were in the process of seeking physicians to take care of our medical issues. Unfortunately my heart decided to give me problems prior to having completed that search. So, my husband places me in our vehicle and off we went to the nearest hospital ER. I have had heart issues since 2009 where at that time I had open heart maze procedure and everything that entails going forward. My experience from the moment I presented to the ER, admission and care was nothing but amazing to me. I was treated with the utmost respect and caring by everyone I met. I was admitted and found that my Afib was off the charts. Long story short a cardiovert was performed and next was where do we go from here. As you know, when one is admitted to the hospital we are seen by many physicians. Fortunately for me I met Dr. Paul Gerczuk and upon my release I was advised to contact a cardiologist for followup. I, of course called Dr. Gerczuk. Ablation and ultimately a pacemaker later I feel like a new person. Better than I have felt since 2009. My opinion of Dr. Gerczuk????
