Kathryn “Katie” Kitching is a board-certified Physician Assistant specializing in cardiothoracic surgery. She earned her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from the Medical University of South Carolina, where she also completed a cardiac surgery fellowship. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from The Ohio State University and is an active member of the American Academy of Physician Associates (AAPA) and the South Carolina Academy of Physician Assistants (SCAPA).
She provides comprehensive care throughout the surgical journey, including endoscopic vein harvesting, first assisting in open heart and thoracic procedures, interpreting diagnostic imaging, and delivering thorough pre- and post-operative education.
Her care philosophy centers on treating patients as whole individuals—listening closely, addressing concerns, and fostering active participation in their care. She takes pride in being a constant and compassionate presence from consultation to recovery.
Outside of work, she enjoys beach days, paddle boarding, playing soccer and volleyball, traveling, trying new restaurants, and spending time with her dog.
