Dr. Clayton Bauer is a board-certified neurosurgeon specializing in the surgical and non-surgical management of spine disorders. He earned his Bachelor of Science from Wake Forest University, where he graduated cum laude and received awards for outstanding achievement in biology and service. Dr. Bauer completed a combined M.D./Ph.D. program at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine, earning his doctorate in Pharmacology and Toxicology with extensive research in neuropharmacology. He returned to Florida to complete his neurosurgery residency at the University of South Florida, including additional elective training in complex spine surgery.
Dr. Bauer is a fellow of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, and he is certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery. His professional memberships include the North American Spine Society and American Association of Neurological Surgeons.
Dr. Bauer’s work has been published in numerous peer-reviewed medical journals and book chapters, and he has presented at national conferences. He also holds a patent for a medical device aimed at reducing the invasiveness of surgical procedures. Dr. Bauer believes that all patients should be treated as individuals with personalized plans and he strives to provide compassionate, evidence-based care
Outside of work, Dr. Bauer enjoys college football, recreational sports and staying active in his church.
