Leonard E. Cortelli, Jr., MD is a graduate of Cornell University and the University of South Florida College of Medicine. He has continually been in practice serving the eye care needs of the Tampa Bay community since 1992. Dr. Cortelli served as Chief of Ophthalmology, University Community Hospital; Chairman, Quality Assurance Committee, Ambulatory Surgery Center Tampa; Chairman, Quality Improvement Committee, Pasco Ambulatory Surgery Center.
Dr. Cortelli provides office-based care for a wide range of ophthalmic conditions including cataract, glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, floaters, macular degeneration, dry eye syndrome and routine eye exams. While Dr. Cortelli has specialized in cataract surgery and lens implantation for over 30 years, he recently limited his practice to office-based care and works closely with excellent cataract surgeons to continue to optimize cataract surgery outcomes for his patients. With this change, Dr. Cortelli has additional in-office availability and can often accommodate same day appointments.
Dr. Cortelli and his team have been acknowledged by patients and other physicians alike as providing the most personal and individualized care for each and every patient.  He has been recognized by his peers as Best Doctors in America® for consecutive years from 2003-2014 and 2019-2020.
