Charl “Charlie” H. Woo, DO, FAAPMR is a double board-certified physician in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Pain Medicine. He earned his medical degree from Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his Transitional Year Residency (Internship) as an active-duty Medical Corps officer in the United States Army at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, known as the President’s Hospital, in affiliation with the Uniformed Services University. He went on to serve for many years as both a field surgeon and a flight surgeon, providing medical care to service members and paratroopers across various military units supporting airborne, aviation, and conventional ground operations, both in the United States and overseas. Throughout his service, he flew aboard both fixed-wing and rotary-wing military aircraft and performed parachute jumps alongside his fellow soldiers.
Following the completion of his active-duty service in the United States Army, Dr. Woo returned to complete his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Larkin Community Hospital in affiliation with Nova Southeastern University. During his senior year of residency, he was named Resident of the Year in recognition of his outstanding clinical performance at the West Palm Beach VA Healthcare System. He subsequently completed a fellowship in Pain Medicine at Larkin Community Hospital, further advancing his expertise in interventional spine and pain management. More recently, Dr. Woo was mobilized with the United States Army Reserve and deployed as a brigade surgeon to Kuwait from where he advanced into combat theater throughout Syria and Iraq in support of contingency operations under Operation Spartan Shield and Operation Inherent Resolve.
Dr. Woo specializes in the comprehensive management of chronic pain and musculoskeletal conditions, including arthritis, degenerative joint disease, radiculopathy, sacroiliac joint dysfunction, and spine-related disorders affecting the neck, back, sacrum, and coccyx. His expertise encompasses a wide range of interventional pain procedures, including epidural steroid injections, medial branch nerve blocks, radiofrequency ablation, joint injections, trigger point injections, peripheral nerve blocks, spinal cord stimulators, peripheral nerve stimulators, and kyphoplasty. He utilizes advanced image-guided techniques, including ultrasound and fluoroscopy, to enhance procedural precision and accurately target sources of pain. In addition to interventional treatments, Dr. Woo incorporates osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT) into individualized, comprehensive pain management plans, emphasizing pain relief, restoration of physical function, and improvement in his patients’ overall quality of life.
Dr. Woo believes in a comprehensive, interdisciplinary, and holistic approach to patient care, emphasizing pain relief, functional restoration, and long-term improvement in quality of life. Fluent in both English and Korean, he is dedicated to helping patients better understand and manage their conditions while empowering them to achieve their health and wellness goals.
