Immunology is a treatment involving periodic injections of allergen over a three to five year period. These injections allow the body to become more tolerant of specific allergens over time, reducing the need for long-term medications.

An immunologist can help treat patients with any of the following conditions:

  • Allergic reactions
  • Asthma attacks
  • Chronic eczema
  • Dermatitis
  • Hashimoto’s disease
  • Hives
  • Lupus
  • Rheumatoid arthritis
  • Sinusitis
  • Vitiligo

You may need to turn to an experienced immunologist at Florida Medical Clinic if you have allergy symptoms that have not responded to previous treatments. Our Department of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology also welcomes you to consult with an immunologist if you do not yet have a diagnosed condition, but are experiencing unusual symptoms such as recurrent infections. Our immunologists can perform comprehensive allergy testing to help you determine the cause of your allergy triggers.

Once we’ve honed in on your allergy triggers, we’ll work with you to develop a management plan to keep you breathing easy. For instance, an immunologist can help you find medications to control your allergies, or possible alternatives to long-term medication-based treatment. Once that treatment plan is devised, our team will add the information to your electronic health record. We take a collaborative approach to immunology, working hand-in-hand with your other Florida Medical Clinic providers to ensure the highest quality of individualized care.
