Arthroscopy

Minimally invasive. Maximized results.

The Orthopaedic team at Florida Medical Clinic is dedicated to getting you back to a healthy, active life. Arthroscopy, or arthroscopic surgery, is a type of minimally invasive orthopaedic surgery. During an arthroscopic operation, a surgeon uses small instruments, including a tiny camera, to access the surgical site, such as a knee, hip, shoulder, or other joint. The camera produces detailed, real-time images that the surgeon uses to guide the procedure.

Arthroscopy can be used for several key orthopaedic procedures. Some of these procedures are purely investigative, performed to diagnose a condition or determine the level of damage to a joint. Other procedures are intended to address an issue such as a herniated disc. The primary benefit is that arthroscopic surgery requires only a small incision; as a result, the recovery time for an orthopaedic arthroscopy is often shorter than it is for an open operation. Additionally, arthroscopic procedures are usually performed on an outpatient basis.

At Florida Medical Clinic, our orthopaedic surgeons may recommend an arthroscopy for the treatment of a variety of conditions, including:

  • Hip conditions, such as compression of the sciatic nerve
  • Knee injuries, such as meniscal tears
  • Osteoarthritis in the wrists, knees, hips, elbows, or shoulders
  • Shoulder injuries, including rotator cuff tears and tendonitis
  • Spine conditions, such as herniated and degenerated discs

As part of our commitment to providing the latest advancements in orthopaedic care, we are continually investing in the newest and most advanced surgical technologies, including laparoscopic instruments for arthroscopy. We’re proud to have all of the necessary tools to provide you with the highest caliber of safe and effective surgical care.
