Hospital Medicine
The Department of Hospital Medicine is committed to high priority care during a patient's stay in the hospital. Florida Medical Clinic Hospitalists work exclusively in the hospital setting, coordinating care fo patients 24 hours/day, seven days/ week, for their primary care physicians and specialists.
Because we spend our entire time in the hospital, we are available throughout the day for admissions and emergencies. We take care of patients in the same manner as your Primary Care physician, including ordering treatments, tests and consulting with specialty physicians where appropriate. This hands on approach not only improves the quality of care, but also results in better use of hospital resources, greater patient satisfaction and reduced length of stay. Once you are discharged, care returns to your primary care physician or specialist.
Benefits to our Patients include:
- Quality of Care- A dedicated, hospital physician with complete knowledge of the hospital system is focused on inpatient, hospital care. this results in a higher level of care for patients.
- Patient Satisfaction- Hospitalized patients no longer have to wait until office hours are over to see their care provider. Typically, the hospitalist makes multiple evaluations a day on a patient's progress. Hospitalists are also more accessible to patients and their family members.
