Dr. Shahnaz Khan has lived and practiced medicine in Florida since 1983 and is married with two grown children. She was born and raised in Pakistan and, as chairperson for the Human Development Foundation, has been highly instrumental in the growth of this volunteer organization. The Foundation has projects in the rural areas of Pakistan. It provides education, preventative health care and economic development to the under privileged people of Pakistan. Through this effort, 204 informal and 3 secondary schools have been started and hundreds of people have started small businesses. Several health centers have been opened, providing some basic health care to rural population. In Kashmir, a permanent health clinic, girls high school, sanitation and water projects have been set up.
