FLORIDA MEDICAL CLINIC LAUNCHES A FOUNDATION

The Foundation of Caring reaches beyond our walls to the walls of our neighbors

After a long history of community giving, Florida Medical Clinic announces the landmark decision to formally commence the Foundation of Caring. The Foundation will support and raise funds solely for the benefit of the community. “We hope to build this Foundation as an opportunity to reach beyond our walls to the people and the families that live in our neighborhoods” states Sheri Schwab, Foundation of Caring President.

Just seven months after the Foundation’s first board meeting, they embarked on their first project. Outfitting twenty-five children from the Lacoochee Boys and Girls Club with a new school outfit and some school supplies was just the beginning. The Florida Medical Clinic Foundation of Caring recruited employees, physicians, and administration for help with this Back To School Supply Drive. Each department in Florida Medical Clinic “adopted” a child and provided a week’s worth of school clothes, at least two pairs of shoes, underclothes, a new book bag and school supplies for the whole year. Other donations to the drive included extra school supplies and book bags, a popcorn maker and a croquet set for the club.

In addition to the department’s help, the Foundation of Caring will also present the Lacoochee Boys and Girls Club with a check for $5,000 to fund an Educational Enhancement Program and fulfill other needs of the club. The program consists of Power Hour, which requires the children to work on homework with a tutor for an hour each day. This is a requirement of the club that has to be met before the kids are allowed to partake in other activities such as playing games, learning computer skills, or working on arts and crafts.

The Florida Medical Clinic Board of Directors and Foundation of Caring members recognize the importance of being active in the community. The Lacoochee Boys and Girls Club is just one of eleven organizations the Foundation plans to help during 2005. The list nearly triples for 2006 and reaches far beyond the walls of Pasco County into Hillsborough. With the opening of our North Tampa facility in 2003, the Foundation recognizes the tremendous need for support in the Hillsborough area. As a leader in the community, Florida Medical Clinic believes it can also set an example for others to follow in the charitable arena, using its influence and position to challenge other local companies and individuals to work for those less fortunate.

Joe Delatorre, Florida Medical Clinic CEO states, “We are dedicated to giving back. This Foundation was created to initiate continued involvement in the community and to genuinely make a difference to improve peoples lives.” For more information on the Florida Medical Clinic Foundation of Caring, please call 813.783.9932 or log onto.
