FLORIDA MEDICAL CLINIC FOUNDATION OF CARING IS HONORED WITH MILITARY
FLAG
Florida Medical Clinic Foundation of Caring was honored with an American
flag on October 17, 2005. Bob Williams, a Wesley Chapel citizen, has
spent more than 25 years sending care packages to US troops serving
overseas. Most of the care packages consist of toilet paper, candy,
Starbucks coffee, DVDs, magazines and homemade cards wishing them a safe
return. The problem Williams runs into the most is finding the funds to
pay for postage.
Most supplies are donated from local stores and neighbors and some are
purchased with Williams’s personal money but the postage is the hard
part. The Florida Medical Clinic Foundation of Caring presented Mr.
Williams with a check for $1,500 to help pay for the shipping of more
than 15 care packages. On behalf of the troops benefiting from this
project, Mr. Williams presented the Foundation of Caring with an
American Flag that was flown over FOB Speicher, Irag on June 18, 2005.
Accompanying the flag were three military challenge coins. Military
challenge coins were started in World War I and were often used as a
form of identification. Today, many military service members often trade
these coins while deployed and in some cases can be earned meritoriously
for a job well done.
Mr. Williams has made a pledge to send your loved one a care package
every week until they come home if you give him their address. With a
warehouse full of goodies and a heart full of good intentions, Bob
Williams needs all the help he can get. To help Bob or donate money for
shipping, please contact him at 813.991.9400 or contact the Florida
Medical Clinic Foundation of Caring at 813.783.9932.
